What are the prerequisites (UG and PG) for studying abroad?

Following are the general prerequisites for (UG) and (PG) programs to study abroad.


Undergraduate (UG) Programs

  1. Academic Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school (Class 12 or equivalent).

  • Minimum required GPA or percentage (varies by university and country).

2. Standardized Tests (Varies by Country/University):

  • English Proficiency Test: This test is required if English is not the first language; IELTS is a universally accepted English proficiency test (Overall Bands 6.0–7.0 scores are required for UG program.

  • SAT/ACT: Often required in the U.S. though some universities are now test-optional.

3. Statement of Purpose (SOP):

  • A personal essay explaining why you wish to study the chosen course, in the university and country you have shortlisted and your career goals.

4. Letters of Recommendation (LORs):

  • Usually, 1-3 LORs from teachers or School Principals who can speak about your academic potential and character.

5. Extracurriculars & Achievements:

  • Participation in extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and achievements relevant to your course can strengthen your application.

6. Passport and Visa:

  • A valid passport and, upon acceptance, a student visa application.


(UG) Programs



  1. Academic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field.

  • Minimum required GPA or percentage required by the program at University.

2. Standardized Tests (Varies by Country/University):

  • English Proficiency Test: This test is required if English is not the first language; IELTS is a universally accepted English proficiency test (Overall Bands 6.5–7.5 scores are required for PG programs.

  • GRE/GMAT: Required for graduate programs in many universities in the U.S.; GRE is common for sciences and engineering, while GMAT is often required for business programs.

3. Work Experience

  • Some PG programs, especially MBA or specialized master’s programs, require 1-3 years of work experience.

4. Statement of Purpose (SOP):

  • A detailed SOP or essay explaining your interest in the program with your career goals, and reasons for choosing the specific university and Country.

5. Letters of Recommendation (LORs):

  • Usually 2-3 LORs from academic or professional contacts.

6. Resume / CV:

  • A professional CV highlighting academic achievements, work experience, internships, and research (if applicable).

7. Passport and Visa:

A valid passport and, upon acceptance, a student visa application.
